Some people are doing Power points, Photo storys, Blogging (Which is what I’m doing). So every week after we have our 2 Chinese sessions I will write about what we did.

Nana + Pa!

Today is Monday the 23rd of June :)

My Nana and Pa are coming down, they should be at my house when I get home.

I like it when they come to stay because I talk to them about school and other things, sometimes Nana takes me shopping. I like going shopping with Nana :)

They live in Melbourne, when we have to go to relatives parties in Melbourne we stay with them. I have lots of relatives, in my family on mum’s side there are 21 grandchildren, that is a lot!!!!!!! I have fun seeing my cousins, I like going to their houses, in the city it’s so different to down here in the fresh, colourful country :)

Themes! Friday the 13th!

Hello viewers! I have decided to do a new theme each fortnight, if I remember :P

Since last Friday was Friday the 13th I have gone for a dark theme, enjoy, and happy blogging! :)

Why students should blog!!!

I think students should be allowed to blog because….

  • It’s a great way for us to learn how to use the Internet.
  • It’s an easy way to get work from teachers if we aren’t at the same place.
  • You can post photos to show other people from home, school, oversea, etc.
  • If you haven’t had much experience with computers your friends and teachers can help you and you will learn how to easily.
  • It’s great to tell other people about what you have done on your holidays or your school day, over the weekend and lot’s of other things.
  • You can ask people questions about what their country’s are like and how their normal day goes.
  • It’s a fun way to get information from others.
  • You can show what work you have been doing at home or school to your parents.
  • We like to make movies to show other friends.
  • Our teachers post up questions that we have to answer and home work that we have to do.
  • They then like to reply on our own blogs.
  • and MOST importantly… WE HAVE HEAPS OF FUN DOING IT!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Golf… With ToNy!

golf-thing-for-my-blog.JPG

At My school in grades 4, 5 and 6 you do golf with Tony. Tony goes around to all different schools and does golf clinics. We had it today just before lunch, we started with Tony showing us how to hold our golf club. All of us were paired up with others roughly our height, my partner was RachelJ

Once both everyone knew how to hold the clubs correctly we went and had a few practice swings. With our partners we had to find a bucket where we would hit form, there were 20 balls inside each bucket. The first person would take 5 out and hit them, and then the next would do the same. Once everyone had hit all of their balls we all ran out and had to collect them.

During the second round we had a bit of a competition, which boy and girl had the best technique, and which boy and girl could hit the largest. I am not sure about the boys but for the girls I had the best technique, and for the largest hitting my best friend Katie and I came equal 1st.

That was all we did today but next week we are going to do putting and targets. I can’t wait!!!

The Magic Garden

The first time Heather Blakey came to our school she came with another lady who told us a story called The Magic Garden. This here is a picture our class did in art after the story was read to us. We had a few different groups do the different things, my group made the tree.

Marilyn Monroe

In English we have all been busy doing projects.  We had to pick a subject from one of these…

  1. World leaders
  2. Great Inventors
  3. 7 Wonders of the World
  4. Medical breakthroughs
  5. Great explorers
  6. Famous / infamous people
  7. Great scientists

Rachel and I were working together and we picked number 6, we did Marilyn Monroe.

We had to get a spare book and make a chart of what areas we would do, Rachel and I did a power point. The slides we had were these…

  • Front Page
  • Profile
  •  Family
  • Her Career
  • Some movies she was in
  • Awards she won
  • Picture Page
  • Where she lived
  • When/how she died
  • Mini Biography
  • Quiz
  • Where we got our information
  • Reflection
  • Ending Page

We had lollies for the 7 questions in our quiz.  Rachel and I printed the slide show and stuck the pages into a book. When we presented on the smart board we sat up the back with the cordless mouse while our class watched the slide show.

Everyone had to give us a rating for

Oral presentation

Voice clarity

Eye contact

Voice loud enough

Content

Clear explanation of content

Information written in own words

Personal reflection

Virtual bibliography

Entertainment value

Quiz

Audience interaction

Video

Pod casts

Visual presentation

Fonts easy to read

Good contrast between text and b/g colour

Slides not too busy

Good use of graphics

Hyperlinks work

In the end Ms Murnane gave us 39/40! We were very happy with our score:)

Challenge…

This is Mrs Mc Cartney’s new maths challenge, she calls it Footy Fever Hits Grade 6…

Looking forward to doing footy maths in the next few weeks?

If so, lets kick off our theme with this new challenge; and as per usual, post your answer here at Technomaths and also on your own blog!

A set of football matches is to be organized in a “round-robin” fashion, i.e., every participating team plays a match against every other team once and only once.

If 21 matches are totally played, how many teams participated?

The reason it has to do with footy is because our new unit in maths is footy maths. Today we were given a list of words which are Geelong’s values. When we got these words- RESPECT, PRECISION, ADVENTUROUS, CONVICTION and UNITY- we had to write them in our maths books, then we had to write what we think they mean to their team and what they mean to us.
